Thunderbirds Elevator Car.

Thunderbirds was a huge creative influence for me growing up. I wanted to be a model maker because of this show. I enjoy making replicas from time to time and usually gift these to other people.

I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist and so struggle with the problem of getting these things right. This one is a good example as it is near impossible to get perfect reference and harder to find the original parts to build them.

With these, I made a set of 4 - Master and Radio Control Cars. I knew that exact detail was not possible so I went with as much as I could get right and interpreted the rest. They are not perfect but look great lined up.

These were quite a production line and the people getting them were close by so these were made on the quiet when they were out of the building making shots like this very hard to get.

They are very clean and tidy when built. In the Thunderbirds world, they are very dirty and used, so it is into the paint shop to throw a lot of dirty washes over them. This really brings them to life.

When finished, they went into a display case and then to Merry Christmas, hope you enjoy. I did keep one though and it is undergoing repairs at the moment, small accident with gravity and the floor.
